This class is designed for students (beginner to intermediate) who want to explore the unique principles of watercolor: transparency, speed, & spontaneity with a focus on painting Our National Parks. Classes will emphasize and demonstrate brush work, color mixing, wash techniques, value patterns, design layout, and composition. Class may be taken multiple times; subject matter will vary among a variety of landscapes, seascapes, florals, & still-life. Watercolor paper will be provided by instructor. Ready to take your writing to the next level? Prep for Publication is an 8-week intensive writing workshop designed for writers who are ready to polish their work and explore the path to publication. Whether you're refining short stories, personal essays, or creative nonfiction, this workshop offers a supportive space to grow your craft and gain insight into the literary world.
Each week, we’ll combine thoughtful critique, generative writing prompts, and practical guidance on submitting your work for publication. By the end, you'll have two polished pieces, a deeper understanding of the submission process, and a list of resources to keep you moving forward.
Workshop Schedule:
Week 1: Introductions, formatting tips, critique ground rules, key resources, and writing prompt exercises to spark creativity
Weeks 2–6: Workshop and critique two pieces from each participant + weekly reading discussions and generative writing prompts
Week 7: Submit your final drafts for Story Factory, learn where to submit your work, and demystify the publication process
Week 8: Literary Magazine Workshop — dive into real lit mags to understand what editors look for and how to tailor your submissions
This workshop is ideal for writers looking to share their work, receive feedback, and gain the confidence to submit to publications. Bring your voice, your stories, and your curiosity—we’ll take care of the rest.

“Oil Painting in a Day: Learn the Alla Prima Approach”
Curious about oil painting but don’t have weeks to commit? This focused 1-day, 6-hour workshop is your perfect entry point. You’ll learn how to work confidently with oil paints, understand essential materials and mixing techniques, and complete a small painting using the alla prima (direct) method—all in one immersive session. Through guided demonstrations and hands-on practice, you’ll build a solid foundation in color theory, values, and brush handling. We’ll spend extra time on mixing colors and understanding paint behavior so you can paint with confidence and clarity. Whether you're new to oils or need a structured refresher, you’ll leave with practical skills, a finished painting, and the inspiration to keep going.

Sunday Sculpting 7/13-7/27

Instructor and artist, Lydia Bratton, will guide this class through the start to finish of creating art through sculpture. Sculpture requires patience, perseverance, and sometimes a mindset shift to achieve desired results.
Lydia will stress the importance of trusting the process, making sculptors of all levels feel capable and confident in creating a piece they can be proud of. Students will plan and complete sculptures they can take home and enjoy.
Sculptures will be left to dry for a week, and students will return to paint their finished, dried product before taking their masterpiece home.

The Joy of Color: Mix, Match, and Master
Are you overwhelmed by color choices and still not getting the results you want in your paintings? Fun with Color is a playful, practical workshop designed for artists who want to take control of their palette, understand color mixtures, and use color confidently to create mood, light, and harmony in their work. Taught at a national conference for artists, this workshop helps you finally make sense of limited palettes, color schemes, and the effects of light. We’ll work in fast-drying acrylics to explore mutes, tones, tints, shades, color relativity, and color psychology—so you can apply what you learn right away. You’ll leave with a clearer understanding of how color works and how to make it work for you.

Oil Painting: Flowers

Students will learn how to use oil paints, working with color and composition, and building layers. They will choose a flower image of their choice and work on it for the 6-week course.
Students will learn how to mix colors, how to paint using oils, and various techniques to build layers of value and color. Supplies are provided.

Acrylics Basics and Beyond 8/5-8/19

Join artist Michele Frantz for a 5 lesson session in acrylic painting! Versatile and forgiving, acrylic paints may be manipulated with a wide array of techniques, applied to many different surfaces, and modified with various additives.
Students new to acrylics will learn introductory basics; experienced students will improve their skills and explore new directions. Class is offered throughout the year with a different approach presented in each session. Click here for a list of supplies. Canvases and boards will be provided by the instructor.
