2026 Education Session
Musical Theatre for Minis (5-8)

Ages: 5 - 8
Whether your child is brand-new to the stage or already bursting with Broadway energy, this class is the perfect place for them to explore the many aspects of musical theatre.
Each week they will strengthen their acting, singing, and dancing skills, all while learning a short piece to be performed at the last session. Along the way, young performers will learn how music, movement, and storytelling fit together, building confidence as they try new skills and make bold creative choices.
Students will not only grow individually, but also discover what it means to collaborate as an ensemble by listening to each other, working as a team, and celebrating everyone’s unique contributions.
Please note that the first three classes will meet at Metz Middle School!!

Acting for Young Actors (8-12)

Ages: 8 - 12
In this acting course, actors will learn fundamental acting skills that can be applied to any theatrical setting through exercises and script-based practice.
Actors will work with Ms. Shelby to hone their skills and receive feedback that will take them to the next level of their acting journey! The class will conclude with a mini presentation showcasing their acting skills through scripted scenes, monologues, and/or improvisational exercises.
Please note that the first three sessions of this class will be held at the City of Manassas Community Center!

Acrylics Basics and Beyond
with Michele Frantz
Join artist Michele Frantz for a 5 lesson session in acrylic painting!
Versatile and forgiving, acrylic paints may be manipulated with a wide array of techniques, applied to many different surfaces, and modified with various additives.
Students new to acrylics will learn introductory basics; experienced students will improve their skills and explore new directions.
Class is offered throughout the year with a different approach presented in each session.

Exploring Composition: Slightly Askew
with Michele Frantz
The crucial role of composition in art is to establish balance and harmony in one’s artwork, while at the same time effectively using contrast to provide interest.
In these classes, students will explore a variety of compositional formats, such as triangles and spirals, and learn how to use visual elements such as line, color, texture and space to make these formats work.Some previous experience with your chosen media is recommended, since the emphasis will be on design rather than technique.
The instructor will supply reference photos, but students are also welcome to bring their own. Students may work in any media; no supplies provided.

Exploring Acrylics
with Michele Frantz
Join artist Michele Frantz for an evening class in acrylic painting. Quick drying, vibrant, and versatile, acrylics may be applied to a wide variety of surfaces and altered with different additives.
Students new to acrylics will learn introductory basics; experienced students will improve their skills and explore new directions.

Explore the beautiful fluidity and transparency of watercolor.
Beginners will learn basic tools and techniques.
