Exploring the Landscape in Pastels
with Michele Frantz
If you love vibrant color, you will love pastels!Dive right in without needing paintbrushes, solvents, or a palette – no other medium allows you to apply rich color as quickly as soft pastels. We will be exploring the shapes and colors of the landscape in different seasons.
Paper will be provided via the Paper Fee, and additional supplies can be purchased by selecting the option at checkout.
Returning students can use their supplies from previous classes.
Please note that the last session of this class will take place at the City of Manassas Community Center!

Watercolor Basics and Beyond

Explore the beautiful fluidity and transparency of watercolor.
Beginners will learn basic tools and techniques.
Experienced students will explore new methods, materials, and styles. This class is offered throughout the year with a different approach presented in each session.

Intro to Kirigami (Paper Cutting)

Begin your journey into the art of paper cutting. Many cultures have created fine works of art with this easily manipulated medium.
By concentrating on the usage of both negative and positive spaces, intricate lines, bold patterns, and amazing shapes can be literally “carved out” of paper. The results are amazing.
In this workshop you will create a beautiful card to take home and enjoy.

Watercolor Pet Portraits
with Valerie Larson
Join us for a workshop that will delve into capturing character in pet portraits, with a focus on the eyes as the windows to the soul.
Artist Valerie Larson will introduce two helpful methods of transferring a photo image to watercolor paper. These methods will allow you to easily achieve correct proportions and have more fun with the portrait-painting process! Students can bring a favorite close-up pet photo to work from or follow along with the photo provided.
Brushes and paper will be provided via the supply fee. You will need to bring your own watercolor paints!

Doodle Quilts
with Michele Frantz
2026 is the year to focus on yourself, and there is no better way than through some art therapy!
Students will doodle and color on different papers, and the cut them up and make a "quilt". You can open your mind by trading papers with other students, and creating a mesh of ideas and inspiration that will revive your spirit.
All materials will be provided, including paper, drawing materials, paints, scissors, and quilting patterns.
Ages 15+ (Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult)

Acting for Minis (5-8)

Ages: 5 - 8
This class is designed for children who are ready to take the spotlight!
Students will learn the fundamentals of acting such as storytelling, creative movement, vocalization, and confidence in front of a group. The goal of this class is for students to learn these skills in a way that is fun and enjoyable, while also creating a safe environment for students to feel like they can explore all areas of performance.
By the end of the session, students will not only gain confidence on stage, but also strengthen listening skills, collaboration, and their ability to think outside the box.
Perfect for performers of all levels, this class celebrates curiosity, collaboration, and the joy of pretending, all while helping little actors grow into their own unique theatrical selves.
Please note that the first three classes will meet at Baldwin Elementary School!!

Step into the spotlight and discover the magic of musical theatre!
In this engaging class, students will explore the three pillars of the stage—singing, acting, and dancing—through fun exercises, group numbers, and age-appropriate scenes from popular musicals.
Young performers will build confidence, strengthen their stage presence, and develop foundational performance skills while working collaboratively with their peers.
Perfect for aspiring triple threats, this class encourages creativity, teamwork, and a love for the stage!

Pied Piper Theatre's Holiday Intensive - The Day Before Christmas

Join us for Pied Piper Theatre's 2026 Holiday Intensive - The Day Before Christmas
The Day Before Christmas is a 60‑minute holiday musical written by Ken Jones (story/book), with Jamey Strawn on music and Christine Jones on lyrics Heuer Publishing+1. It is designed as a comedy‑themed Christmas musical suitable for both children and adults, blending festive cheer with lighthearted chaos.
The show takes place at the North Pole just before Christmas Day. Santa, Mrs. Claus, the elves, reindeer, forest animals, and even the toys themselves are busy preparing for the biggest night of the year. The team works hard to get the sleigh ready and deliver gifts worldwide — but their plans are disrupted when Jack Frost decides to stop the festivities with a bit of comical chaos and calamity.
(Ages 8 - 16)
Rehearsals will be Tuesdays and Thursdays at Metz Middle School from 6:30-8 pm beginning October 6 and ending at Metz on December 10. We will be off for Thanksgiving.
Tuesday and Thursday, December 1 and 3 rehearsals will be at the ARTfactory.
Tech week will begin on Monday, December 7 and continue through Tuesday, December 8, Wednesday, December 9 and Thursday, December 10.
There will be four ticketed performances on December 11 at 7, December 12 at 10 am and 2 pm and December 13 at 2 pm
Class members will receive two complimentary tickets to be used on the performance of their choice.
